First time hunter going out in AM....

Now this won't be his first time to shoot a turkey, but it will be his first time to go out and call in a bird. Whizbang is going out with Elvan in the morning to sit in the blind and try for a bird. He is excited but he just doesn't get it yet. In Montana they just drive around and when they saw a bird plunked it with a .22 and went home....oh how naive he is gonna seem when he finally gets out there.
I explained to him, unless he doesn't have a pulse, he will most definitely get an adrenalin rush, when those big boys come in and begin their dance...oh my. I am about as excited as he is, I promise to get him to write about his experience when they come in, but for now...Hee Hee, he just doesn't have a clue how much life is about to change for him!

They tried yelps, clucks, gobbles and even snoring...LOL...but nada. As usual down here, temp goes below 40 and they shut down. Figured they would hear some later in the day but not happening. So tomorrow is another day, and they'll be found trying again.

Well I hope they do well - I went to Upper Mich scouting - saw at least 20 jakes and a few good birds.....they where gobbling good off the roost but then we lost track of where they went.....they mostly got lockjaw.....
Had a hard time finding birds then - seemed they stayed in the woods and would not use the fields. We need to figure what they are eating....
Flocks are all broke up though. And opening is 4/19 - my 23rd yr!
